CMS Families,
Please take a few moments to review and discuss this message with your student.
We’ve seen a significant rise in issues stemming from students’ use of social media outside of school hours. Unfortunately, these online behaviors are having a real and lasting impact on students’ well-being and how they feel about themselves and their peers.
Many of these incidents involve how students are treating each other online, including:
Making fun of or mocking others
Harassment—both sexual and physical in nature
Threats of physical violence or fighting
Name-calling and bullying
Grouping together to target or exclude others
We strongly encourage you to speak with your student about the appropriate, respectful, and responsible use of social media. Together, we can help create a safer and more supportive environment for everyone—both online and at school.
Thank you for your continued support.
Thanks,
Jim Kennedy
CMS Principal
