CMS Families, Please take a few moments to review and discuss this message with your student. We’ve seen a significant rise in issues stemming from students’ use of social media outside of school hours. Unfortunately, these online behaviors are having a real and lasting impact on students’ well-being and how they feel about themselves and their peers. Many of these incidents involve how students are treating each other online, including: Making fun of or mocking others Harassment—both sexual and physical in nature Threats of physical violence or fighting Name-calling and bullying Grouping together to target or exclude others We strongly encourage you to speak with your student about the appropriate, respectful, and responsible use of social media.
