Conneaut Middle School students took part in Innovation Day, sponsored by Conneaut Dairy Queen and Junior Achievement of Eastern Ohio. Over the course of the day they designed new Blizzard flavors—doing market research, setting prices, creating ads, and preparing sales pitches—then presented their ideas to judges from Dairy Queen and the community.

Come support their hard work at Conneaut Dairy Queen on Friday, May 29. Taste and vote for your favorite student-created Blizzard by purchasing one—every purchase helps Conneaut Middle School and the CPD K9 unit. Stop by, enjoy a treat, and cheer on our students!

Ahoy! Tech 2 wrapped up the Penny Regatta today — and what an epic voyage it was in the brisk sea air! Big thanks to Mrs. Shields’s crew for cheering on our sailors from shore. Student teams navigated design challenges to craft vessels that would float and carry as much weight as possible. Our 2026 Regatta Champion is Alante Reynolds! His ship held a mighty 150 grams before capsizing. Three cheers to Alante and to every captain and crew who sailed their designs to shore — well done, sailors!

Sailing — Takes Tech 2 Away
Our fleet set sail early Friday morning. All crews launched their vessels successfully and proved they floated. The next trial tested each boat’s load-carrying ability with mixed results. Boats that carried the heaviest loads earn the right to redesign and race again next week for the title of Penny Regatta Champion.
Competitors:

Orrin LaRue
Andrew Osborne
Alante Renyolds
Coen Sprinkle
Xavier DiBell
Leevie Alsbaugh
AJ Comstock
Blake Beseda

We will hold a retest on Thursday to determine our champion.

Students in Tech 2 built a homemade mini golf course using cardboard and 3D-printed parts. They designed creative, one-of-a-kind holes and learned to work with new tools — including a nostalgic rotating windmill. Classmates tested the course, laughs and cheers followed, and the whole project was a big hit.

Ahoy, sailors! Penny Regatta time has sailed into the Tech 2 classes once more. Crews designed vessels to stay afloat and carry the heaviest load in grams without capsizing. Our contender fleet is pictured — which craft earns your vote? Keep your spyglass trained on the horizon to see which ship claims victory and which one takes a dip to Davy Jones’ locker!

Stay Connected with Conneaut Area City Schools – All in One Place

Conneaut Area City Schools is making communication simpler and more streamlined for our families. We will be transitioning away from Remind and moving all district and classroom communication into our official CACS app.

Why the change from Remind to a dedicated CACS App?

✔ One app, less clutter – Reduce “app fatigue” by keeping everything in a single, easy-to-use platform
✔ Real-time notifications – Receive updates directly from your child’s teachers and the district
✔ Google Classroom integration – View classroom posts and updates without needing additional logins
✔ Cost savings initiative – Helps the district reduce expenses while maintaining strong communication tools

🚧 Coming Soon:
We are currently enhancing the app to support direct messaging between staff, students, and guardians. While this feature is in development, messaging for guardians is not yet available. We will be sure to notify everyone as soon as this functionality is ready.

We encourage all families and students to get ahead of the rollout and download the app today so you’re ready when these features go live!

Our goal is to provide a smoother, more consistent experience for parents and guardians—keeping you informed and connected without the need for multiple apps.

📲 Download the Conneaut Area City Schools app today and stay connected! The app can be downloaded from either the Play Store or the App Store for your specific device.

We want to make our families and community members aware of a concerning social media trend known as the TikTok Chromebook Challenge. This challenge encourages students to intentionally damage school-issued Chromebooks—often by trying to short them out using metal objects—under the influence of viral content. We take this matter very seriously. Not only does this behavior result in the destruction of valuable school property, but it also poses serious safety risks to students, including the potential for electric shock, burns, or other injuries. Tampering with electronic devices is never safe and should not be taken lightly. We are asking parents and guardians to talk with their children about the dangers of participating in or promoting harmful online trends. Please encourage them to think critically about the content they encounter on social media and to make choices that reflect respect for themselves, others, and our learning environment. If you become aware of any students engaging in or planning this kind of behavior, please report it to school staff or administration. Working together, we can ensure a safe, respectful, and positive environment for all students. Thank you for your continued support.
