Last Friday, the CDC issued new guidance regarding distancing in schools during COVID. Based on this change in guidance, the Conneaut Board of Education has determined that beginning on Tuesday, April 6th, current Gateway Elementary students in groups A and B will be coming together and returning to school 4 days a week Tuesday through Friday. Lakeshore students will remain on their current 4 day schedule. SOAR students will remain committed to SOAR through the remainder of the semester. For the week of April 6th, CMS and CHS will remain on their current two day schedule. After consultation with the health department and studying community transmission, the Board will make a determination about these two buildings possibly returning to a 4 day week beginning April 13th. Bus Routes will be posted on the website (www.cacsk12.org) once they are completed. Nothing will be mailed home so please check the website if your child needs transportation.  Lunches will still be distributed on Monday, March 5th. In addition, it is important that we all remember to follow all health guidelines including wearing clean masks properly at all times and washing and sanitizing hands. Students should not be sent to school with any covid symptoms. It is important that we follow all CDC and ODH guidelines in order to stay in school 4 days a week for the remainder of the year and not have to go back to the hybrid model.  Thanks and have a safe spring break!

Plan A B C
We are aware, and have been reviewing , the new CDC guidelines that were released on Friday. Specifically, the revised physical distancing recommendations to reflect at least 3 feet between students in classrooms and provide clearer guidance when a greater distance (such as 6 feet) is recommended. We continue to partner with the Conneaut Health Department to work through CDC guidelines as well as current recommendations from the Ohio Department of Health. We anticipate making an announcement regarding the current plan by the end of the week.

covid-19 coronavirus update
1. Next Friday, March 12th will be a calamity day. There will be no in person or remote learning for students on that day. There will also be no new learning for SOAR students. This will be a catch up day for everyone as staff will be getting the second dose of the vaccine. 2. The Conneaut School Board continues to remain committed to the safety and health of our community. Therefore, in order to maintain the recommended 6 feet of social distancing in the classroom by both the CDC and the Health Department, the Board of Education has decided at this time to remain in the hybrid plan for the 4th nine weeks. 3. We have recently received information about a confirmed case of COVID-19 in a student at Conneaut High School. CHS will remain open at this time. We are working closely with the Conneaut Health Department and anyone identified as a close contact will be notified. One year later we are still balancing educating our students and keeping our community safe. There are no easy decisions. I hope and pray this all ends soon and next year we are back to normal. Until then Stay Spartan Strong! Lori A. Riley

A winter storm is on the way and the Superintendents are making the call tonight to give everyone time to prepare. Since this will be our first calamity day I am declaring tomorrow, Tuesday February 16th, to be an old-fashioned snow day. There will be no hybrid in-person or remote learning tomorrow. Students should check their Google classroom for any work they may need to catch-up on but there will be no new instruction. If you don't have any work to do I am challenging everyone to unplug the computers and spend the day doing something fun! Be safe and stay warm Spartans!

Conferences for Feb 11th and 12th have been cancelled. They will be rescheduled by your child's teacher for a date and time in March. Instead, Conneaut Area City School staff will be receiving their first round of the vaccine on Friday. We have been able to partner with the Conneaut Health Department and distribute the vaccine to 190 staff members on Feb 12th. Therefore, this will still be a non-student day as scheduled on the school calendar. Thanks for your continued cooperation during this COVID school year.
